SAKAYAN-KAALAMAN 3.0 HITS FIFTH SESSION: YOUNG LEADERS DISCOVER THE HEROES WITHIN WITH BM AMIN

Brimming with energy and excitement, the Sakayan-Kaalaman Reading Program 3.0 reached another milestone as it conducted its fifth session at Kaumpurnah Elementary School on September 3. The activity gathered around 100 learners from Grades 2 to 6, all taking part in a meaningful learning experience that aims to sharpen reading skills and foster a stronger culture of literacy among Isabeleño youth.
Spearheaded by the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, the program is carried out in partnership with the City Information Office and the Local Youth Development Office.
This week’s session highlighted the participation of Board Member Amin Hataman of District 1, who engaged the students in an interactive discussion about community helpers and the vital roles they play in society. He also emphasized that heroism is not limited to capes and superpowers—every child has the capacity to be a superhero in their own way, whether as a student, a child, or a sibling, by showing kindness, responsibility, and compassion in everyday life. His message inspired the pupils to see themselves as active contributors to their families and communities.
The Youth Space Mentoring Program volunteers also continued to guide participants, monitoring their reading progress and providing support to ensure sustained improvement throughout the sessions.
Conducted every Tuesday and Wednesday, the Reading Program dedicates one hour for partner-led lectures and two hours for literacy activities, with a total of 20 sessions designed to give pupils consistent mentorship while tracking their growth in reading. With the support of the HAPIsabela Mobile Library, additional reading resources and teaching materials make each session more engaging and meaningful for every learner. (Words by E.
