UNWFP, DSWD VOW SUPPORT FOR ISABELA CITY’S FOOD PREPOSITIONING EFFORTS

Representing Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, Vice Mayor Ar-Jhemar Ajibon warmly welcomed on September 3, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Office, DSWD Field Office IX, and the United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) during a courtesy visit.
Present in the meeting were UNWFP Monitoring Assistant Arlene Robles; Mary Rose Taganap, Sitti Warda Moslem from the Central Office; Myla Villaverde, Joshua John Villanueva, Arnold Jan Morte, Fatima Nur-Raiza Baladji, and Sherhata Balome from the DWSD FO IX.
The delegation’s visit focused on assessing the Family Food and Non-Food Packs Prepositioning Mechanism established in Isabela City, as well as identifying challenges in response operations, particularly in ensuring the availability and timely distribution of food packs during emergencies and disasters. It may be recalled that in 2023, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) began prepositioning food packs as part of the city’s proactive initiative to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.
The visit underscored the continuing collaboration between local leaders, DSWD, and partner organizations in strengthening nutrition/food security programs and social welfare initiatives for the people of Isabela City.
