CITY HOLDS 51ST NUTRITION MONTH CLOSING ACTIVITY

With the theme “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”, the City Government of Isabela, in partnership with the Department of Education – Isabela City Schools Division, successfully held the Citywide 51st Nutrition Month Culmination Program on July 25, at the Isabela City Civic Center, Barangay Binuangan.
Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman led the event and delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the importance of prioritizing nutrition and food security, especially for children and vulnerable communities. She also noted the vital role of proper nutrition in enhancing the academic performance of learners and supporting their ability to make sound life decisions, and underscored that good nutrition must begin as early as the prenatal stage, and be sustained through adequate guidance to support the child’s holistic development.
Mayor Turabin-Hataman then commended everyone involved, recognizing the initiative as a shared effort between the LGU and its partners. The program also showcased the city’s commitment to building healthier, well-nourished communities through multisectoral engagement.
A variety of contests and activities energized the day, including the Table and Food Display Competition, Plate it Right, Vlogging Challenge, Fruit and Veggie Juice Creation, and School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) Jingle Contest.
Highlights of the event included the recognition of Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars, winners of the Backyard Gardening Contest, and barangays with the Most Improved Nutritional Status and Highest Budget Allocation for Nutrition.
Among those who also addressed the participants were SGOD Chief Eduardo Gulang and NIC/SBFP Nutrition Focal Mary Joy Luzon and City Nutrition Action Officer Jesielyn Puno. In attendance during the event was City Councilor and SP committee chairperson on Health, Sanitation, and Nutrition Asan Al-Ameen Camlian, NNC IX Nutrition Officer II Ailrryst Gay Solosa, HEPO Bernardita Hontucan, 97.5 RKFM Nutriskwela Radyo Komunidad Station Manager Jaime Juanito Rivera and other DepEd and CPMDO/Nutrition Action Program personnel.
