LGU-ISABELA CITY CELEBRATES 2025 NDRW WITH ‘FIESTA DE FUERZA Y ABILIDAD’ SPORTS CHALLENGE FOR PWDs

In celebration of the 47th National Disability Rights (NDR) Week, the City Government of Isabela, through the City Persons with Disability Affairs Office (CPDAO) led by PDAO Gemma Paculio, in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), held the Sports Challenge: Fiesta de Fuerza y Abilidad del mga PWD on July 22.
The activity, held in Barangay Cabunbata and the Isabela City Civic Center, gathered Special Education (SPED) teachers and students from Isabela City Central Elementary Pilot School (ICEPS) and Isabela East Central Elementary School (IECES). PDAO Officer Gemma Paculio opened the event with an inspiring message, highlighting the courage, resilience, and contributions of persons with disabilities in building an inclusive society.
The event featured Paragames such as Bocce and Goal Ball, where PWD students and LGU employees alike displayed remarkable skill, strategy, and determination. Participants also shared their experiences and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be celebrated and included.
Councilor Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul-Hataman, chairperson of the Committee on Women, Family, and Social Services, also graced the activity. She expressed her appreciation for the initiative and emphasized the value of continuing efforts toward inclusivity and equal opportunity.
Also present were SPED teachers from participating schools, including Teacher Charisse Ann Obedencia, who supported and guided the students throughout the games.
Anchored on the NDR Week theme “Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together,” the event served as a powerful reminder that disability is not a limitation—and that with the right support, every individual can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
