ISABELA CITY OBSERVES ARBOR DAY 2025 WITH TREE-GROWING IN PANUNSULAN

In celebration of Philippine Arbor Day on June 25, the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability through a community tree-growing initiative held in Barangay Panunsulan.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 643 and Republic Act No. 10176, Philippine Arbor Day promotes environmental awareness and conservation, encouraging widespread participation in tree planting and reforestation activities to maintain a healthy ecological balance.
In 2024, Isabela City, through the collective effort of various organizations and stakeholders, successfully planted 20,000 coffee seedlings in the barangays of Panunsulan, Maligue, Lanote, Diki, Lumbang, Sta. Barbara and Calvario. Continuing this initiative, over 100 participants from different LGU offices, in collaboration with barangay officials, planted an additional 600 coffee seedlings earlier today in Barangay Panunsulan.
This ongoing initiative not only supports reforestation and ecological health but also seeks to revive local coffee production, empower farmers, and enhance the city’s economy through sustainable agroforestry.
The activity was led by City Agriculture Office in collaboration with City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), headed by Acting ENR Officer Albino Orbecido, and supported by various city departments and community partners. (Words by SJ Asakil, CIO/Photos by C. Digon, IsaTV)
