The City Government of Isabela, through the City Nutrition Affairs Office headed by CPMDO/CNAO Jesielyn Puno, officially launched the Gardenator in Barangay Tabuk on July 29, marking another milestone in the expansion of its urban gardening initiative in partnership with the Kids Who Farm Project.
As part of the launch, 12 Gardenators were distributed to selected beneficiaries to help households, particularly those in water and coastal communities with limited planting space, grow fresh and nutritious vegetables at home. The initiative promotes improved nutrition, food security, and environmental sustainability. With the addition of Tabuk, Gardenators are now established in Barangays Diki, Marang-Marang, Carbon, the Badjao Floating School, and Tabuk.
The City Government expressed its appreciation to the Barangay Chairperson and officials of Tabuk for initiating the request to establish the Gardenator in their community and for providing counterpart support through the procurement of planting containers, demonstrating the barangay’s commitment to the program’s success.
Originally launched in Barangay Diki in 2023, the Kids Who Farm Project continues to engage children and communities in urban gardening by promoting food production, healthy eating, and sustainable living. During the launch, barangay officials, tanods, children, youth representatives, and the selected beneficiaries actively participated in the Gardenator demonstration and learned the proper establishment and maintenance of the system.
The launch of the Gardenator in Barangay Tabuk reflects the City Government’s continuing commitment to expanding community-based nutrition initiatives and empowering more families to produce their own food. Through the sustained partnership among the LGU, the Kids Who Farm Project, and barangay stakeholders, the city continues to cultivate healthier, more food-secure, and resilient communities—one Gardenator at a time.
